Madeira Flower Festival

The Madeira Flower Festival is one of the most expected festivals, which takes place in Funchal between 30^th of April and 24^th of May and celebrates the welcoming of spring.

Famous for the impressive amount of flowers, thousands of participants are present every year, enjoying the mixture of scents, colors and sounds. Especially the children who participate to the festival are adorned and dressed up accordingly to the floral theme in order to take part in the floral mural, known as the Wall of Hope.

The incredible and exotic variety of flowers worn by the participants represents the spring flowers, which bloom the same time as the people, ready to enjoy the sun and the opening of a new chapter of spring.

The amazing awakening of the nature and the people brings them closer, starting with the Flower Festival, surrounded by special musical themes, festive atmosphere, good vibes and sunny weather.

The Madeira artists are also preparing for the great event, designing and creating floral carpets that can be admired on the streets of Madeira by the inhabitants and the tourists as well. The explosion of colors and decorations full of imagination can be found in shops too within the floral festival competition.
