Madeira April 2016 events

Like every month, we meet to see what’s up in the Island of the Eternal Spring these days. So without further ado, here are the most important Madeira April 2016 events:

Madeira dresses in its most colorful and scented attire this April. Between the 7th and the 17th of April 2016, you can enjoy a mesmerising week of delightful parades, music and dance in the traditional style of the island. Come join us at the Madeira Flower Festival! The mild, warm climate of Madeira Island makes nature bloom in spring, particularly in the 2nd month of the season. The festival is a celebration of the rebirth of nature, a merry tribute to life and the beauty of the world. Every evening, the streets of Funchal city fill with music and excitement. Among the highlights of the festival, there’s a special “Wall of Hope”, a beautiful mural made entirely from flowers. There are folk concerts and traditional food on sale, as well as the majestic Flower Exhibition, of course.

There’s really only one little problem: the island’s capital city is bound to become very crowded, so you’d best book a Madeira transfer to be sure you have transportation on demand.

Weary of too much noise and fun? There’s an event for the bookish ones as well: the Madeira Literary Festival held between the 11th and 17th of April at the Baltazar Dias Municipal Theatre.

After the festival, you might want to attend another important cultural event on the island: the Madeira Nature Film Festival, an independent event that also pays tribute to the local nature, supporting local tourism, art, recreation and education. This year’s event has been scheduled for April 25th until the 1st of May. Location: Belmond Reid’s Palace & Municipal Theatre. This would be an excellent chance to learn more about the amazing island and its unique Laurisilva Forest.
