December 28th 2018 is the epic day of the Sao Silvestre Race in Madeira and its surroundings. Its history goes back to 1958, when the Athletics Association and the Region of Madeira first organized this event. About 2000 contestants of all nationalities and ages come here year after year to compete most amicably. The event entails several events starting with the Wheelchair race, followed by the Health March and the races. With its rustic traditional houses, Santana is one of the most beautiful places in Madeira. Between the 10th and 12th of July 2015, it also hosts the 48 hours Dancing Folklore Festival, when performers from Madeira and from abroad are invited to come and dance for 2 full days. Food and drink and stands are provided.

Festa da Banana (held in Madalena do Mar town between July 17th and 19th 2015) is a tribute to the local production of bananas.

Music will also play in Funchal’s Municipal Garden between the 16th and 18th of June 2015 at the Festival Raizes do Atlantico, an international music festival, considered one of the oldest and greatest such events in Portugal.

Another music event, the Madeira Island Summer Opening, is scheduled to take place in Sta. Catarina Park between the 24th and 25th July. The event will welcome international artists in a warm and festive environment, on the shore of the Atlantic.

And to end the month in style, the Rali Vinho da Madeira is scheduled for 30th of July – 1st of August 2015. Rally cars will fill the streets of Madeira as international competitors will attempt to conquer the winding routes.
