Easter and Flowers, Madeira events in April 2015

As we prepare to say goodbye to the first month of spring, with its scented array of hopes and dreams, let’s look into what’s in store for the coming month: Easter and Flowers, Madeira events in April 2015.

The average temperature in Madeira for the second month of spring is 17 degrees Celsius, surely pleasant and warm enough to stay outdoors and celebrate the Portuguese way, with festivals and fairs.

The first major event in the April 2015 calendar is the Catholic Easter, which falls on April 5th this year. Both a religious celebration and an opportunity for people to exchange gifts
and travel, the Holy Easter is an excellent time to be in the Island of Madeira.

Sugar cane has been part of the island’s history for ages and the locals celebrate this every year at the Regional sugar cane fair (or the Feira Regional da Cana-de-Acucar) at Ponta do Sol. The fair features displays of the sugar industry, as well as food, drink, dance and entertainment.

During the 9th and the 12th of April, get your running shoes, because Madeira Hosts the MIUT 2015 Ultra Trail, a long distance running event. You are free to register if you feel your feet can hold you!

By far the most beautiful and colorful event, the Madeira Flower Festival, is a symbol of the island and the reason people crowd here year by year. This year, the dates are 16-22 April. If you are in Madeira during the dates, you can admire the most beautiful tropical flower carpets, fairs and music, culminating with the Sunday parade. If you are a photographer, there is one word that can describe it: heaven!

To end the month in style, we recommend a last stop at the Madeira Film Festival, beginning on April 27th and stretching to May 3rd.

These are just a few of the reasons you should come and before you plan your trip, be sure to book your Madeira airport transfer as well!
